A piece from one of our favorite chapters of Gucci history. This vintage Jackie tote dates to the late 1990s–early 2000s, during Tom Ford’s era at the house, when Gucci classics were being reworked with the sleek, minimal and slightly sexy attitude that defined the period. Comparable examples from the same Piston Lock family have been attributed specifically to Ford-era Gucci.

Crafted in black nylon with smooth black leather trim, the bag has a large rectangular silhouette and extra-long leather handles designed to sit comfortably over the shoulder. The otherwise minimalist exterior is interrupted by one very Gucci detail: a central leather strap finished with the house’s distinctive silver-tone piston-lock hardware, with subtle Gucci engravings throughout.

Inside, it opens to a spacious black Gucci logo-jacquard lining with an interior zipped pocket. The combination of lightweight nylon, leather and polished silver hardware makes it feel incredibly of its time: practical enough to actually carry everything, but still unmistakably late-'90s/early-Y2K Gucci.

And the condition on this one is kind of insane for a vintage bag. The exterior textile remains beautifully preserved, the leather is smooth and supple, and the hardware has retained its shine. No peeling, cracking or staining. A genuinely gorgeous survivor from the Tom Ford years.

Condition details: Beautifully preserved vintage condition. The black textile exterior is clean and well maintained with no stains or peeling. Leather handles and trim remain beautifully preserved with no cracking or peeling, and the silver-tone hardware is in excellent vintage condition. Interior is also very well preserved.

Bossa Notes: This is the kind of Tom Ford-era Gucci we are always looking for. No unnecessary extras, just black nylon, glossy leather and that ridiculously good silver Jackie hardware. Very late '90s fashion editor carrying her entire life to the office, very tiny sunglasses and a flip phone in the inside pocket. And somehow, decades later, it still looks this good. She’s big, practical, chic and just obscure enough that the real vintage Gucci girls will know exactly what they’re looking at.
